This painting is based on the story of "the Armies of Helaman" in The Book of Mormon. It is the miraculous story of 2060 young men/teens who went to war in place of their fathers (who had covenanted to not take up weapons when they were converted to Christ). The miraculous part is that all 2060 survived not just one but two battles and they credit their faith and protection to what their mothers taught them: "Our Mothers Knew It". This painting is celebrating these amazing women who were at home practicing their faith and praying fervently for their boys. This story has become very personal to me. I experienced the amazing power in fervent prayer as my own son was miraculously healed.
