Tucson based artist Tracy Ann Holmes, is a transplant to the desert yet she immediately loved its otherworldly landscapes. The tenacity & beauty of the life that survives this arid clime is a constant inspiration in her work. Inspiration also comes from her faith, the challenges of raising a family and what it means to be a woman.
Tracy received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in Ceramics from Brigham Young University in 1998. With over 20 years of experience she utilizes ceramic in tile, mural and sculptural art. Sculptural ceramics for Tracy is a celebration of the female form and embodies her deepest pondering. Her favorite mural technique is that of free form mosaics that utilize grout lines as design lines. In 2014 Tracy attended the workshop of architectural ceramics artists Peter King & Xinia Marin so she could expand her skill-set to create public artworks that will last for generations.
Painting & drawing portraits is another area that Tracy excels in. She is able to capture the spark that gives each person their unique look. Her talents include watercolor, acrylic, & pencil.
Tracy taught in the public school system for five years and loves teaching art to young and old. She continues to teach youth and adult art classes. By sharing her talents with others she is able to help empower others to create art and enjoy the work of their hands.
Tracy's art work is represented at SAAG (Southern Arizona Arts Guild) Gallery of Gifts, Absolutely Art, Tohono Chul Park, Tucson Botanical Gardens, and the Sonoran Desert Museum. January through mid-July of 2023 you can see an exhibit of Tracy's Sonoran Desert Life watercolors at the Center Pointe Gallery at the Tucson Airport.
